The PARIS RE Group Management Board supports the Chief Executive Officer in the discharge of his powers and duties. It has both consultative and coordinating functions and, subject to the Board of Directors’ supervision, decides on issues related to the company’s key operations, sets company targets, approves business plans and establishes significant Human Resource policies. The following corporate officers are members of the Group Management Board:

Hans-Peter Gerhardt

Hans-Peter Gerhardt

Hans-Peter Gerhardt, Chief Executive Officer of PARIS RE Holdings Limited. Hans-Peter Gerhardt became Chief Executive Officer of PARIS RE Holdings Limited in 2006. He had first joined AXA RE in the same position in 2003. His career in reinsurance began in 1981 with Hannover Re, upon his return from the United States where he had worked in management administration for the Astronautics Corporation of America. From 1988 to 2003, he assumed both underwriting and management functions for the Cologne Re Group which merged into General Cologne Re where he finished as a member of the group Executive Committee and as CEO of various underwriting divisions.



Marie-Hélène Autem

Marie-Hélène Autem

Marie Hélène Autem, Head of Human Resources, Organization and Internal Communication. Mrs. Autem joined AXA RE in 2003 as Head of the Human Resources Department. From 1998 to 2002 she worked for AXA Conseil as Head of Management Labor Relations and participated in the creation of the department at the time of the AXA/UAP merger. She began her career in 1989 with the Union of Metallurgy and Mining Industries (U.I.M.M.) as legal advisor in the area of Labor Law and Collective Bargaining Agreements.



Christophe Boizard

Christophe Boizard, Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Boizard is in charge of Finance and IT. He joined the AXA group as Head of Financial control at Uni Europe. In 1989, Mr. Boizard was promoted to Executive Vice President in charge of Non-Life Management and Control in AXA France after the merger with UAP. After a five year stay in Italy as Executive Vice President in charge of Finance at AXA Assicurazioni, he joined AXA RE in 2003 as Chief Financial Officer.



Jérôme Carré

Jérôme Carré

Jérôme Carré, Chief Risk Officer. Mr. Carré most recently served as Chief Actuary at AXA RE. After receiving his diploma in statistics from the University of Paris Jussieu, he completed his fellowship at the French Institute of Actuaries. As actuary of the Canadian branch of Abeille Re, Mr. Carré spent two years in Toronto before he joined Abeille Re, Paris, in 1993, to become its Chief Actuary. When Abeille Re was acquired by AXA RE in 1995, Mr. Carré assumed the position of Chief Actuary of the Paris based company. In early 1999 he was promoted to Chief Actuary with worldwide responsibility, a position he kept after a restructuring in 2000 and reorganization in 2003.


Jean-Luc Gourgeon

Jean-Luc Gourgeon

Jean-Luc Gourgeon, Chief Underwriting Officer. Mr. Gourgeon joined AXA RE in 1987. Over the past 20 years of his career with AXA RE, Mr. Gourgeon has handled a wide variety of responsibilities at AXA RE's Paris and London offices in areas that include Information Technology, Underwriting and New Product development. This multidisciplinary experience is combined with an extensive knowledge of the markets in which the Company operates.



Frank Papalia

Frank Papalia

Frank Papalia, General Counsel. Mr. Papalia is in charge of legal and compliance matters of the Group. Mr. Papalia also serves as General Secretary and as Head of Claims and Technical Accounting. Mr. Papalia previously held the position of Senior Vice President and General Counsel of AXA RE. Prior to arriving at AXA RE in August 2001, Mr. Papalia was Vice President and Counsel of AXA Financial in New York, where he began his career with AXA in 1986. Mr. Papalia is also a Certified Public Accountant and worked with KPMG Peat Marwick in New York before attending Fordham University School of Law.



Michel Plécy

Michel Plécy

Michel Plécy, Head of Treaty Division and Marketing. Mr. Plécy joined AXA RE in 2004 in his present role. He started his career with Compagnie Européenne de Réassurances (C.E.R.) then spent six years with Abeille Re, heading the Property non-proportional department. He joined SPS Réassurance in 1991 and was appointed Director and General Manager of that company in 1992.
